KEFFE'S BURIAL PLANS RELEASED

On Monday about 100 stakeholders in the Nigerian entertainment industry met in Lagos, to discuss burial plans for late singer, Irikefe Don-Momoh more popularly called Kefee.
At the meeting venue, provided by Sammie Okposo, many notable faces were present including; Nikki Laoye, Anny Ibrahim, Tosin Martins, DJ Gosporella, Emem Ema, Wamilele, Princess, Tee-Y Mix, Perry Martins and Praise Machine, Mudi, Righteousman, Nene Soul Diva, Victor Gospogroove, Gordons and representatives from Kefee’s family.
“Kefee was a major contributor to the development of entertainment industry in Nigeria and the industry will be there for her even in death.
“We are going to bury her as a queen and it would be nice for us to work together to make her burial a grand affair.
“It would also be nice to use this opportunity to get our acts together as gospel artists and entertainers in general because that is what Kefee would love,’’ Sammie Okposo said
Also speaking, Tosin Martins said that celebrating Kefee should be an annual memorial event which could be expressed through an entertainment symposium. Martins said this would ensure that pertinent issues in the entertainment industry were discussed for the development of a foundation in her memory.
A committee known as Kefee Memorial Committee (KMC) was constituted to plan the various events which would hold in Lagos and Sapele, the hometown of the late singer.
The members of the committee are Sammie Okposo, Nikki Laoye, Comrade Rex Anighoro, Momodu Inu Noah, Tosin Martins, Anny Ibrahim, Joan Paul, Aity Dennis-Inyang and Emem Ema, Gbenga Akintokun, Tee-Y Mix, Tim Tehilla, DJ Gosporella, Praise Machine, Victor Gospogroove, Princess, Perry Martins, DJ Direal and Chilee Agunanna, a journalist, who was Kefee’s publicist.
The committee will plan befitting burial events in Lagos and Sapele which includes a symposium and service of songs tagged: “An Evening with Kefee’’ in Lagos.
There will also be a documentary of the singer’s life and times; performances of her songs by other artists; Kefee memorial merchandise and a tribute concert in Sapele.
Kefee’s husband, Teddy Don-Momoh, monitored the proceedings of the meeting from the U.S. where he is preparing to fly home the body of his wife.
Don-Momoh pleaded for the privacy of the family to be respected in these trying times.
He noted that most of the stories written about Kefee since her death are untrue, especially the reports “of a pregnancy that didn’t exist’’ and the story that her body had been flown home he described as very insensitive and mischievous.
Don-Momoh said that customarily, he would have to return home to Nigeria first, in order to be on ground to receive the body of his wife.
According to him, he is finalising the required paper works before Kefee’s body can be flown from the U.S. to Nigeria, after which more details of the burial proceedings will be released.
He stated that Kefee’s family had requested that she be buried in Okpara-Inland, Ethiope East Local Government Area, with a celebratory service in Sapele afterwards.
Don-Momoh said that he was comfortable with the decision of his wife’s family, adding that these were the only definite arrangements for his wife’s burial so far.
Meanwhile, a condolence register had been opened for the singer at her restaurant, Branama Kitchen, at 11 Ajose Street, Mende, Maryland, Lagos.

MIGOS' FUED ALLEGEDLY CAUSED THE FATAL SHOOTING OF FAN IN GA

New developments in accidental fatal shooting has identified Migos as the intended target. 

The fatal shooting of Paris Brown on June 11th is now believed to be caused by a beef between rap group Migos, and a rival group 2G. According to WSB-TV2 Gwinnett County investigators say “they worry violence that happened two weeks ago could just be the start of an ongoing feud.”

Brown, who was gunned down at a Venture Drive Quality Inn in Gwinnett County, Ga was a reported supporter of the group Migos. Cpl. Deon Washington spoke to WSB-TV2 of recent developments in the case.

“He was just a supporter of the rap group Migos and essentially caught a stray bullet.”
According to inverstigators Migos member Kiara Cephus was at the scene of the crime and believed to be the target of the shooting. According to the news station, he was questioned by Cpl. Deon Washington.

“We know he was there, however he would not cooperate with the police investigation. Obviously there’s a difference between entertainment, which is what these guys are affiliated with, and real-life violence and crime.”
Gwinnett County police has charged one man, Cory Marzette, in the fatal shooting. He is allegedly  an friend of the rival rap group 2G.

ITALY OUT OF WORLD CUP 2014

2006 World champions, ITALY bowed out of the Brazil World Cup 2014 today with their inability to win Uruguay. The two sides were held to a goalless draw until the incisive Uruguay substitution payed out.

Cristain Rodriguez came off for Gaston Rodriguez in the 78th minute, and in the 81st minute Diego Godin found the back of the net with an assist from Gaston Rodriguez bringing the game to a close and shattering the hopes of Italy. The score line ending 0-1 in favor of Uruguay.

CHINA COURT OVERTURNS DEATH SENTENCE FOR ABUSE VICTIM

The Supreme Court in China has overturned the death sentence against a woman who killed her husband after months of domestic abuse.

The brother of Li Yan told reporters that her case was being reheard.

Li Yan beat her husband Tan Yong to death in 2010 in a high-profile case that elicited much public sympathy.

Shortly after they married in 2009, Tan began beating and kicking Li. He also stubbed out cigarette butts on her face and chopped off part of a finger.

Li Yan, 43, had complained about the abuse to local police and community officials, but no action was taken.

In November 2010 the Sichuan native killed her husband during a fight, hitting him with the butt of an air rifle that, Li's lawyer says, Mr Tan had threatened to shoot her with, and dismembered his body.

She was caught after a friend she confided in tipped off the police.

Evidence of her abuse was presented in court. But the courts ruled that it was not enough to prove that she was a victim of domestic violence, and sentenced her to death in 2011.

Li Yan appealed against the death sentence on self-defence grounds, but the appeal was rejected by the Sichuan high court.

Amnesty International as well as lawyers, scholars and non-governmental groups sent in petitions calling on the courts to reconsider.
Death sentences are normally carried out within a week in China. So when the media reported in January 2013 that the Supreme Court had given the green light for Li Yan to be executed, hundreds of lawyers, activists and others raced to petition the authorities on her behalf.

They asked for her claims of domestic abuse to be investigated. They argued that the law had to take into consideration not only the way Tan Yong (Li Yan's husband) had been killed, but also the strong evidence of domestic abuse. Sentencing, they said, should be appropriate to the crime.

Since taking over the right to review and approve all death sentences in 2007, the Supreme Court has overturned many cases including fraud and rape, but it is quite rare for a death sentence involving murder to be overturned.

The move has been welcomed by human rights groups, and marks another step in China's efforts to reduce crimes punishable by death, and towards a more rational approach to the death sentence itself. Li Yan now faces a retrial in Sichuan.

The South China Morning Post quoted legal rights group Duihua Foundation as saying only 10-20% of death sentences have been reversed since the Supreme Court began reviewing such sentences in 2007.

Amnesty hailed the decision as "the right course of action" and is urging China to not impose the death sentence in the retrial.

"Li's case has shone a spotlight on the need for the Chinese authorities to do more to prevent violence against women. They are obliged to properly investigate all such claims of abuse and prosecute those responsible," said Amnesty's China researcher William Nee.

RONALDO'S HAIRCUT

There have been tens of thousands of tweets about Cristiano Ronaldo's new zigzag haircut - with many of them praising him for his "tribute" to a boy who had brain surgery. But is this just a big Twitter rumour?

Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo has been trending around the world since late on Sunday, not for his footballing prowess, but his latest haircut - a bold zigzag-y stripe on the right-hand side of his head.

When he first sported the new style in public, a few hours before the Portugal v USA game, Twitter erupted in a collective round of head-scratching and mickey-taking. Some suggested it merited a place among the World Cup's "worst haircuts". Others wondered if it was a funky-looking "7" - similar to Ghana's Asamoah Gyan, who has a yellow "3" dyed into his hair.

And there were thousands of references to a certain wizard's scar. "What's with Ronaldo's hair? Is he sponsored by Harry Potter now or something?" for example.

But the widespread mockery of his locks - admittedly mostly from Americans - soon morphed into something completely different. And it sent the Twitter rumour mill into overdrive. A single tweet from a regular football fan with 900 followers seems to have been the trigger. The tweet read: "Ronaldo cut his hair to match the scar of a young fan who had surgery to remove a brain tumor last week. #respect."

That tweet has now been shared more than 11,000 times. It was also copied word-for-word and reposted by numerous larger accounts. In all, there have been about 50,000 tweets and retweets. The problem is, there's nothing to suggest this is anything but a rumour. Ronaldo himself has not posted to his social media accounts since before Sunday's match, and neither his agent nor the Portugal team have responded to our request for clarification.

It does appear to be the case that, some months ago, Ronaldo paid for the treatment of a young child needing surgery for a brain abnormality, cortical dysplasia, which causes epileptic fits. The story was widely reported in the media - and a screengrab from a USA Today article about this was included in the original tweet. But whether Ronaldo's haircut has anything to do with this, or brain tumours - or anything else - is anyone's guess.

Whether it's true or not doesn't matter to 29-year-old Nick Barrett who lives in Florida and who had brain surgery for a tumour eight months ago. He tweeted photos of his large, curved, post-surgery scar after watching the game and the discussion online. "It brought back memories," he told BBC Trending. "When you walk around with a scar like that, everybody looks at you... It would be great if it just raises awareness about it."

SUDAN DEATH-ROW WOMAN: MERIAM IBRAHIM "RE-ARRESTED"

A Sudanese woman freed from death row on Monday has been arrested with her family at Khartoum airport.

Meriam Ibrahim was sentenced to hang in May for renouncing Islam, sparking widespread outrage at home and abroad.

About 40 security agents detained Mrs Ibrahim - along with her husband Daniel Wani and two sons - at the airport, the sources said.

On Monday, Mr Wani said the family intended to leave for the US.

Mrs Ibrahim was released from prison after an appeal court annulled the death sentence imposed on her.

She was arrested in February, and gave birth to a boy in prison not long after being sentenced.

Born to a Muslim father, Mrs Ibrahim, 27, married Mr Wani, a Christian, in 2011.

Sudan has a majority Muslim population, and Islamic law has been in force there since the 1980s.

Even though Mrs Ibrahim was brought up as an Orthodox Christian, the authorities considered her to be a Muslim.

60 GIRLS KIDNAPPED!!!

The twitter handle of the Nigerian Television Authority, is reporting that sixty girls were kidnapped by insurgence in Kummabza village, in Damboa LGA in Borno state. See their report below…

About sixty girls between the ages of 3-12 years have been abducted by insurgents in Kummabza village of Damboa local government area of Borno State. Reports from the area indicates that the insurgents also killed about thirty people and destroyed property worth millions of naira during an attack on the community, residents of the village are taking refuge in Lassa and Gulak in Adamawa State. They appealed to the authorities to provide them with shelter and relief materials to reduce their sufferings.
