Tragedy struck on Sunday in Aba, Abia State, when a middle-aged woman described as an aide to a native doctor in the commercial city died after vomiting blood. It was gathered that the woman, whose name could not be immediately ascertained, worked as a cook for a female native doctor identified simply as Ezenwanyi and whose herbal home is located at the Over-Rail axis of the city.
A witness stated that at about noon, the woman got to Ama Ogbonna railway crossing, while on her way to work, she fell down and started vomiting blood.
The source said before people around could help her, she died and the police were called in, who later deposited her corpse in a morgue in the city.
“The woman was walking towards Umuada Street where she worked for a female native doctor as a cook, when she suddenly fell down at the railway crossing at Ama Ogbonna and started vomiting blood.
“Before any help could come to her, she was already dead and the police were immediately alerted and they later took the corpse to the mortuary.”
The state command Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Geoffrey Ogbonna, could not be reached for comments but a senior police officer confirmed the incident and said the woman’s death was under investigation
