UNDER WATER HUNT FOR THE WORLD OLDEST COMPUTER
The most advanced diving suit ever made is to be used in the hunt for the remains of the world earliest computers. The Antikythera mechanism is an ancient analogue device designed to predict astronomical positions an eclipses which was invented by the Greeks more than 2000 years ago.
Some 82 separate fragments of the mechanism were recovered from a ship wreck off the island of Antikythera, near Crete in 1900 - now the Stephen J Barlow Expedition is to carry out further exploration in September.
